Above is a picture of Del on the left and my Cousin Wes Kilbourne. Wes and my Husband Ralph worked with Del Shannon (Charlie Westover) at Brunswick in Kalamazoo, MI. back in the 1950's. Wes became good friends with Del. Later he was even visiting with Del at the carpet store (Del also worked at) when he was writing the song "Runaway" as a matter of fact Wes was one of the first ones he sang the song to. Wes use to even jam with Del sometimes at friends homes. This picture was taken years later in Florida at one of his concerts and Wes wrote a note to Del and gave it to one of the security guards and when Del arrived the security guard gave him the note and Del said "Where's that man? Get that man." For a minute, Wes thought that maybe they were in trouble, the way Del said it. But then up came Del. He set his guitar on the ground and threw his arms around Wes and said, "Wes! Is that really you? (He also said more to Wes but I won't put all of that here.) Being friends with him has always remained even to this day, one of Wes' most proudest memories.
